May’s research projects involve the design, utilization and assessment of digitally mediated health communication systems to improve public health. She investigates how communication can be effectively used to promote health messaging and integrates family and peer communication with technology. Her work on digital technology use in promoting physical activity and nutrition education amongst children and families has been piloted in schools and in hospital settings in Singapore. May has received numerous grants and awards including the Fulbright ASEAN Scholar Award and the Ogilvy Foundation Award for academic leadership.
