His particular focus is on reconstructing the complex genetic history of South East Asia, Australia and the Pacific. Professor Cox leads landmark research across a broad gamut of modern genomic science, including empirical analysis of human migrations, demography and adaptation; the extent and nature of admixture with archaic hominins; interactions between social behaviour, language, kinship and genetics; and the development of novel analysis methods.
