Peter Bailey is a Principal Applied Scientist working on email technology at Microsoft. He is also the Chair of the Advisory Board for the Microsoft Research Centre for Social NUI, located at the University of Melbourne. For almost 9 years, he worked on the Microsoft Bing web search engine, including leading the team that introduced personalized relevance to the Bing ranker stack. Peter is well known in the information retrieval research community for his contributions to various evaluation test collections, including WT10g, CERC, and UQV100. He is a co-inventor of a dozen patents and a co-author of more than sixty publications. As part of his service within Microsoft, he participates as a member of the Bias and Fairness working group of its AI and Ethics in Engineering and Research (AETHER) Committee.
