The US has rates of civilian gun ownership that are far higher than in any other country, and rates of firearm-related death and injury that are among the world’s highest. Evidence linking firearm access with elevated risk of death and injury has grown, but still has major gaps. This seminar outlines a recent study of a cohort of 28 million residents of California, tracking handgun ownership and death over 12 years.
